U 17’s Football
The Under 17s in wet conditions came up against a Moulamein side that had beaten them in the first round and Hay were keen to square the ledger.
Pushing into wind and mist early, the Hay side slowly gained ascendancy with the Wilson brothers, Isaac and Noah dominating across the half back line and Boh Learmonth proving an excellent target up forward.
Hay finished in front 4 goals to nil at quarter time but pushed on with it in the second quarter as Ben Arandt won all his contests at centre half forward, Luke Lugsdin led hard and worked well with Noah Hey who was providing a great contest at full forward and kicking accurately.
With a 10 goal to nil half time lead, Hay was determined to maintain the dominance and despite pushing into a breeze still won the quarter with Tobye Deaton and Sam Ward taking control in the midfield, helped by Monte Barnes working hard in the ruck and Dylan Lund showing great control and strength over the ball on the half back line.
The last quarter saw Zac Fitzpatrick find some space, Jimmy McKenzie continue his best game of the season, Charlie Hurst getting some important touches and Kane Johnston showing terrific desperation in defence, to see Hay again run out comfortable winners.
Again the team had some gutsy efforts from Under 14 players, Bo Learmonth, Richie Weymouth, Angus Gardiner, Brait Headon and Ferg Cattanach.
Final Score: Hay 17.4.106 defeated Moulamein 3.10.28.
Goal Kickers: Bohden Learmonth 4, Ben Arandt 4, Noah Hey 3, Zac Fitzpatrick 3, Luke Lugsdin and Jimmy McKenzie.
Better players: Sam Ward, Noah Wilson, Isaac Wilson, Tobye Deaton, Bohden Learmonth and Ben Arandt.
