U14’s: Macorna 44 defeated Hay 25
Macorna started the match strongly, but the young Hay team rose to the standard in the remainder of the match to keep the quarter by quarter scores fairly even. Hay were missing some of their key players this week, but the team still took on the challenge and gave it their all. Delilah Crighton (Peter Mullins Building Best on Court award) was a standout in Hay’s defensive end where she took countless intercepts and was a great mentor for the younger players on the court. Katie Arandt (North Deni Steel Coach’s Award) once again showed off her increasing confidence in her shooting and moved fluently around Hay’s attacking end. Lanta Clark (Morrison Shearing Players’ Player Award) was available this week and her presence and accuracy in Hay’s goal circle was truly appreciated by her team. Katie and Lanta played off each other beautifully and set up countless goals through great teamwork and talk. The team will now work hard as they prepare for their next game against Wandella in a few weeks, which is expected to be a strongly contested match.
