U17’s: Hay 35 defeated Macorna 23
The U17 girls had to take to the court this week without their 3 main shooters who were unavailable due to sporting and family commitments. We were lucky enough to have Maddy Doidge and Shayla Rosewarne help us out this week and they both showed how skilled they are and looked very comfortable with the team, these girls did not have a chance to train with the team they certainly did not disappoint, they were an added asset to our team. The first quarter was a little slow with Hay leading by 1 at the end of the first break. With a few positional changes the team settled and played great netball and at the end of the 3rd quarter they lead by 6 and the final quarter was their best and ended the game with a 12 goal win. Chloe Slattery (Sportfirst Players Player Award) swapped ends of the court this week and showed that she is not only a dynamic defender but also an amazing shooter and gained 96% of the offensive rebounds. She teamed up with Chloe Leetham who also put her hand up to help us out this week and showed that her netball skills and confidence have improved and she was instrumental in our win this week. The ever reliable Hannah Stewart (Peter Mullins Best on Court Award) has matured into a very skilled team player and managed to control the centre court throughout the game. Our team is very fortunate to be able to rely on Katie Arandt (Morrison’s Shearing) from the U14’s to step up each week and she has certainly proven that she has earned her place within the team, she is a versatile player who is happy to play any position and she always gives 110%.
